Our Beliefs

The following is a list of our core beliefs at Cypress Hills Ministries.

God

We believe that there is one God, who eternally exists in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—with each being uncreated, equal in essence, and always acting in absolute unity. We believe in God the Father who created all things and is sovereign over all that he has made. We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternally existent Son of God, who is fully God and became a human being when he was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a life without sin, died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins, and was bodily raised from the dead three days later, after which he appeared to many of his followers and then ascended to heaven, where he now sits at the right hand of God the Father, exalted above all others, and intercedes for his people. We believe in the Holy Spirit who has been sent by the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to indwell every true follower of Jesus Christ. He is the seal of our redemption and he empowers every believer to live a life that produces the fruit of the Spirit and that accomplishes the Father’s purposes in this world. He gives every believer one or more spiritual “gifts,” and intercedes for all believers in harmony with the Father’s will.

Scripture

We believe that the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament come from God himself through the agency of human authors inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit, are without error in the original manuscripts, and fully reveal all that God requires us to believe and do.

Humanity

We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in his own image. Adam and Eve were perfect when they were created, like the rest of God’s creation, and lived in perfect harmony with God, one another, and all that God had made until they were deceived by Satan and rebelled against God’s good commands. As a result, sin infected the human race and corrupted our relationship with God, one another, and the rest of God’s creation. All human beings have descended from Adam and Eve, and all have sinned and are thus subject to God’s just condemnation.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is available to all by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who repent, believe what Jesus has done for them through his atoning death and bodily resurrection, and confess “Jesus is Lord” are born again and become new creations in whom the Holy Spirit now dwells and is at work sanctifying them and conforming them to the image of Christ.

The Church

The church consists of all true disciples of Jesus Christ. All followers of Jesus are called to be baptized and to use the gifts that God has given them for God’s glory and for the building up of the Church.

Last Things

We believe that the Lord Jesus will return in glory to the earth in bodily form, at which time he will judge both the living and the dead, with those who belong to him entering into his presence forever, and those who do not belong to him being consigned to the lake of fire forever.
